[Reading] Uncapacitated single and multiple allocation p-hub center problems

Authors: Andreas T. Ernst et. al. , ELSEVIE, 2007

The paper refers to "p-hub" concept using for reducing the total cost of any networks - telecommunication, postal network, and even airline. The idea is to use a set of hubs to consolidate something (e.g., data, passengers, materials, ...). Two kinds of allocations studied by the authors - uncapacitated single allocation p-hub center problem (USApHCP) and uncapacitated multiple allocation p-hub center porblem (UMApHCP). They need to minimize the discounted cost of the largest origin-destination pair path : min max (cost) by using integer programming.

Cited from Wikipedia, Sa-Taw has many names - Parkia Speciosa (its binomial name), petai, bitter bean, and even stink bean. Yes! it has a strong smell, so we call "stink bean". The taste is bitter that's why we call "bitter bean" .But I think it's bitter-sweet. Although, it's bitter stench, I still enjoy to eat Sa-Taw.

Ok! this menu I give 5/5 score!

Where's my Money ?

In this month I haven't got salary! Actually I should get it since the end of Feb. This salary is the stipend of the scholarship I've got from school for a year.

Yesterday, I asked a woman who could help me, but she said only the other man and my adviser can do. Unfortunately, both of them are not here on this week. So I have to wait for the assistance until next week. Today I went to ask the financial office to assist me. But they said they haven't got my annual report which is important to renew my scholarship. That's terrible! Because I used to submit the report since last year but why they haven't got it.

Ok! nobody can answer who's making mistake and it does not matter to know. I submitted the report again but I have to wait my adviser to sign the report. Poor me! I have to save money in this month because I might get the salary until the end of this month.

Prof.Barbara's Talk

02:30PM - I attended a talk "OpenMP Beyond 3.0: Language, Implemenation and Programming Tools" by Prof.Barbara Chapman. She's much expert in the area High Performance Computing. OpenMP is widely used by many institutes. Some companies implemented it as commercial products. OpenMP has played more role today and the future especially on muti-core / many-core processors. Well, I don't plan to give much technical detail here. It's not the content of this blog. If you're interested in OpenMP, just visit the official website OpenMP.

Meeting 18-FEB-09

10:30AM - I met up with Prof.Lee and Prof.Dusit was there before. The major topic was the research topic I'll continue in the next few months. I selected one since last week. It's "consolidation" + "optimization". We might call it "optimized consolidation". Actually I picked this topic since last JAN. It's arisen again when Gartner released a document "The Great Virtualization Dillemma of the Next Decade: What You Need to Know" on Feb 11, 09.

Nothing to talk much about the topic while I've derived anything yet. Ok! it's time to read more papers. Oops! I have to Prof.Babara Chapman's talk. I'll come back here again after the talk.

Watching Samurai Champloo

While I was feeling bored, I looked for some movies to watch. This is not good way for PHD students to relax because of wasting much time. I found one anime "Samurai Champloo". Actually I heard this name for a few years ago. OK! let me watch.

Wow! it's quite funny. There're 3 major characters: Jin, Mugen, and Fuu (in Fig. from left to right). Maybe I've never watched the movie like this. I meant the making of this movie is so different since I've ever known. You should know more. Old + modern japanese styles are mixed together here.

I just finished the 12th episode. OK it's time to sleep, 1.14AM - SG. Good night!

Clarify this Blog Please ... OK!

Previously I spent so much time on other blogs. Because I have many blogs for updating, I don't have much time to spend for all of them fairly :) Actually I should consider which unique content I will put for each one. For example, blog A is for being my diary while blog B is for posting technical stuffs. I planed to clarify this issue after finishing PHD (in next 3 years at least) hahaha!

The question annoying me is why I have many blogs. I still cannot find a right answer. Well! firstly I though I should register many places for trying their features. The second answer (and might be the last one) is that I want to register only my pen name "javaboom" for many famous sites however this active blog cannot be pointed at javaboom.blogspot because of reserving by others.

Now let me clarify the content for this blog. I'm going to post entries like a diary book. That's why we call a web blog (blog) because it is used to log our life. Although my English skill is suck, I post them in English. Why not? I wanna share my life with people around the world.
